Welcome to the website for Leeds based acoustic folk artist and singer-songwriter Matt Bentley. If you find yourself interested in my mind-fuzz, pop along to my blog for more gubbins
This top video is called The Graduate. It’s a song about life after you get your degree hehe.
25 June 2015;
Well, it’s been a while since I’ve written on here, but there’s some big news. Me and Steph are looking to drop our individual acts and concentrate on the duo, so I’ll announce that when it’s ready. What that means is that it’s unlikely “Matt Bentley” as a separate performing act will continue much beyond the next few months… In reality, that’s pretty much ended already. I’ll maintain the website, but expect content to be pared down and updates to cease fairly quickly. Thanks
21 September 2014;
Oxjam Rodley is coming along nicely – we’re just looking to get the raffle prizes sorted out for the gigs, so if anyone has anything they’d like to donate, please give me a shout at email@example.com.
In other news, me and Steph are starting a new band, so watch this space for further details, but you’ll gradually start to see less and less from me on here as content and updates transfer to the new website. Once the process is complete, I’ll look to give this place a complete overhaul and run it as more of a gateway to the new site and a content hub for my material from the solo-artist years.
15 July 2014;
Me and Steph have decided to run Oxjam Rodley, as part of Oxjam Leeds Festival. The guys at Oxjam Leeds are wanting to run gigs in all the postcodes in Leeds. We’re running it for LS13. We’re running gigs over all four weekends in October 2014, and to find out more, please go to the Oxjam Rodley Website
16 March 2014;
I’ve put all my older stuff up on BandCamp for free, so go have a look in my downloads section.
I didn’t realise I’ve played with so many people with a wikipedia page about them. There’s Jon Gomm, Passenger, First Aid Kit, Jim Noir, Chris Helme and Martin Stephenson to name but a few. Good Gravy. Maia need to get themselves one, so I can keep the list going.
9 January 2014; First post of the new year.
Some good news – I’m starting recording on my new album today. Don’t know when it’s gonna be out yet, but hopefully it won’t take too long as we’re going back to basics. After going mental on my last two albums and getting orchestras and millions of weird and wonderful instruments on the go, this next one’s going to focus on guitar and vocals… lots of vocals hopefully! I’m aiming to get some great harmonies going with some good friends of mine. There’ll still be lots of nice instruments too, but as they’ll all be played by me and the producer, it should speed things up a bit.
More good news – Steph’s EP is done and expected to be out on 31 March. We’re sending a bunch off for review and getting all the posters etc sorted this week. Hooray!
10 December 2013; Well, this is me signing off for the year. There’s one more gig on 27 December and nothing booked for the new year as yet. I guess that’s kind of on purpose as we need to concentrate on Steph’s new EP release and on getting my new album recorded. Here’s wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
23 September 2013; The summer of festival fun is over, and we’re swiftly heading into the winter of playing round Yorkshire. Looking forward to it actually. I like a nice bit of snow every now and then.
Me and Steph Steevo are off to Budapest for my birthday soon too, when I’ll be the big 30! Uh oh!!
There’s some exciting stuff coming up around Steph’s new E.P., which I’m doing the artwork for… AND me and Steph are doing a mini E.P. together as “Steph and Matt” , which the producer says is a terrible name, so we might have to think of something else… “Mulligan and O’Hare” maybe, though I think that’s been taken.
Maybe we should put it to an internet vote.
